„Ojakhuri“ became a member of the UN Global Compact

The Georgian spice brand „Ojakhuri has officially joined the UN Global Compact Georgia Network, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. The company has already received an official certificate confirming the partnership.

Joining the UN Global Compact means that „Ojakhuri commits to 10 universally recognized principles concerning human rights, labor standards, environmental protection, and anti-corruption.

„For us, this is not just a status; it is a commitment to be a values-driven business and to guide the company’s growth within the framework of social and environmental responsibility“, - says Salome Neparidze, Marketing and Public Relations Manager at Ojakhuri, in an interview with Business Insider Georgia. According to her, this step is just the beginning of the brand’s process of international expansion.

Notably, „Ojakhuri“ is one of the first Georgian spice brands to join a global initiative of this kind.

„For the company, this partnership is an important step not only in terms of sustainability but also in positioning the country’s business sector on the global map. Within the framework of membership, „Ojakhuri“ commits to presenting an annual progress report and to continuing active engagement in global goals“, - adds Salome Neparidze.

Since receiving the status, the company has participated in several significant events aimed at promoting sustainable development and strengthening responsible business practices, including:

  • Promoting a circular economy through specific waste management – introducing practical approaches and sharing experience based on modern recycling standards.

  • Workshop: Review of judicial practice – grounds for termination of labor relations – analysis of legislation and court practice.

  • ESG reporting on global and local levels – an action platform for sustainable financing, introducing standards of responsible investing and reporting.
